We are overjoyed for the three people who were filled with the Holy Ghost in Espoo’s June 30th service! How do we know this really happened? What was the evidence? They spoke words in a language they had never learned before!
Acts 2:1-4 NKJV When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. (2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. (3) Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
We’re not satisfied with “normal church services.” The Church isn’t a building, it’s the people – the Body of Christ – and we at UAS choose to avoid normalcy! Being “normal” means 1a: conforming to a type, standard, or regular pattern : characterized by that which is considered usual, typical, or routine; b: according with, constituting, or not deviating from a norm, rule, procedure, or principle. While order is needed, patterns can also be called ruts, and that is something we work hard to avoid (rut: 2: a usual or fixed practice especially : a monotonous routine. (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/normal; https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/rut) Coming together as the Body of Christ and joining together in worship, prayer, and learning from His Word is exciting – and we want this to be visible every time we come together!
We choose to push through spiritual barriers and break them down through prayer. We choose to be bold in faith, practice, and the way we speak. We choose to use the spiritual that God has given us through His Spirit. And we give Him thanks for the way He has honored our pushing! One who experiences birthing into a salvation experience has only begun to live spiritually, but what a beginning. Thank you, JESUS, for all you are doing in our midst at UAS!
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 NKJV For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. (4) For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, (5) casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, (6) and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
Acts 2:37-39 NKJV Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (38) Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (39) For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
We welcome you to experience PENTECOST with us!
